Case study

Seven years of Google Ads. A lead every month of it.
1st Step Movers is a moving company in Canonsburg, south of Pittsburgh. We built their website in 2019 and have run their Google Ads since the start of 2020. Moving is seasonal and the last seven years were not calm. The account produced leads through all of it, and produces more than three times as many today.
- 3.4x leads per monthGoogle Ads, 2026 vs 2020
- 81/81 months with leadsEvery month since January 2020
- 28% more leads year over yearLast twelve months vs the twelve before
- 78% of leads through the quote formOn the website we built, 2026
What we run for them
Two things, done for seven years.
A website built to get the quote request, and a Google Ads account that sends the right people to it. That is the whole engagement, and it has not needed to be more.
How we market home servicesThe website
Built around one job: get a homeowner to ask for a quote. Phone number in the header, the quote form on every page, and the moving services laid out so a visitor finds theirs in one click.
Google Ads
Switched on in the first weeks of 2020, into a pandemic. It produced leads that first month and has produced them every month since.
Managed every year since
Nothing on this account runs on autopilot. Searches, ads, budget and the quote form have been adjusted year after year, and leads per month have more than tripled.
Google Ads, January 2020 to September 2026
Steady through a pandemic. Climbing every year since.
Each bar is one month of leads against the 2020 monthly average; the line is the year. Moving has a summer and a winter, so the bars swing, but the line has gone up four years running: 1.5x in 2023, 2.2x in 2024, 2.8x in 2025, and 3.4x so far in 2026.
Phone calls and quote forms recorded by Google Ads, every month since January 2020. Small screens show the yearly figure.
The website
Built in 2019. Carrying more of the load every year.
A moving customer wants a number, so the site is built around the quote form. In 2020, 18% of ad leads came in through it and the rest were phone calls. In 2026 it is 78%. Same site, same form, tuned a little every year as the account showed what people filled in and what they abandoned.
By the numbers
Numbers you can check, not claims.
Every figure on this page comes from Google Ads and the client's Google Business Profile, pulled on the same day. 1st Step Movers owns the ad account, the website and the data. We have access. They have the keys.
Why clients own everything“These guys are phenomenal. Without them our business wouldn't have taken off!”

What we would tell another mover
Three things this account proves.
The same three show up on every home-services account we run. This one has seven years of data behind them.
The website is half the ad account
Three quarters of these leads are quote forms. An ad that lands on a page with no clear way to ask for a price is paying for a visit, not a lead.
Seasonal does not mean unpredictable
Moving has a summer and a winter every year. Plan the budget around the curve instead of fighting it, and the slow months still produce.
Consistency compounds
Seven years of small adjustments to one account beat starting over every time a new agency pitches. The best year on this account is the current one.
